IN ASSOCIATION WITH tHE BRISTOL SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
"Love is a spirit all compact of fire, Not gross to sink, but light, and will aspire"
An epic story rife with love, lust, and forbidden passion; Venus and Adonis is Shakespeare's most unabashedly sexy work. Written as a poem in 1592, this marks the first major stage adaption of the work in the UK for over a decade.
Adonis is a hunter unversed in the desires of the flesh. Venus is an older temptress determined to ignite the young warrior's sexual awakening. Through original music composed and recorded live on stage, and highly charged performances combining physical theatre with classical delivery, Venus and Adonis brings Shakespeare's masterpiece into the 21st century. Utilising an all male company to explore themes of gender fluidity and social conditioning, this is set to ne one of the highlights of Bristol Pride and Rhe Bristol Shakespeare Festival.
